It is generally accepted as you age especially after 50, the days, weeks, months and years really do seen to fly by. While time is going by at the same rate as when we were younger you should make sure to do what you can not to watch your life pass you by. Don’t be a spectator to life’s events. Old age is inevitable but you can push back at some of the physical and mental aging drawbacks and build upon some of the benefits.

Staying positive is an important determinate of how well you accommodate the changes that aging brings. Stress and negativity seem to amplify disease and  decline. So eliminate as much stress as you can and evoke as much positivity as possible. Don’t associate with negative nellies and learn to laugh and enjoy your life even with its struggles.

Don’t act your age. A study by the University College London, found that feeling young at heart may help you live longer. The study proves that age and longevity are directly tied to how old you think you are and how healthy you perceive you are. So try and think of yourself as younger than you are and don’t associate yourself with only person’s your age. Hang out with some youngsters when you can. Be young at heart.

Fasting and intermittent fasting has many benefits, and one of them would be the positive effect on slowing the aging process. Calorie restriction has been proven to slow gene expression levels involved in the aging phenotype. Fasting helps clear damaged proteins from you body and helps to reset your body. This little step can reduce inflammation, and help you to live longer.

Eat good whole foods. Don’t eat processed foods especially those with added sugars. The quality of the food you eat is important. Eat organic if you can afford to do so. Grass fed beef, pasture raised chickens and wild caught fish along with good fats such as butter and olive oil are all good choices. Eat less but eat better.

Stay active, work out or do physical things that you enjoy. Maintaining an active lifestyle is key to looking and feeling younger. Play and have fun while doing some form of exercise. Get outside and feel the sunshine. Its your time to live so do it to your fullest and while the hands of the clock will keep spinning you will be adding years to your life.
