No I’m not talking about Neil Armstrong’s walk on the moon. What I am stating is that big changes are made in small incremental steps. How do you eat an elephant, one bite at a time. If you haven’t worked out in a while or ever. If you are 50 going on 80 its not too late to take that one small step towards optimum health. No matter your age, no matter your physical condition you can make some substantial improvements just by taking that first small step. What do you have to lose except for a few pounds but more importantly what do you have to gain? The upside prospects of the investment in yourself far outweigh the risks of doing nothing. Yes, it is a lot easier to do nothing but what does that get you in the end more of the same except as you age, time becomes your enemy and you lose your good health to disease and you lose your freedom to a weakened body.

How do you want to live your life as you age? Do you want to live on your terms or be subjected to the terms of your age? I want to live to an old age and die young. What does that mean? It means that I want to feel young and be able to use my body as I wish as I age, to hike, to bike to swim to try new things and have the resiliency to withstand the aging process. I want to be like “Banana” George Blair who was still bare foot water skiing at 98. At age 79 he was still doing his crowd pleasing exhibition water-skiing barefoot on just one foot while holding the tow rope in his clenched teeth, holding a banana in each of his outstretched arms. He was still preforming at theme parks into his 80s. George Blair didn’t need to do these events he was a successful businessman. he enjoyed performing and he had the time of his life. He lived life on his terms. Choose to be like Banana George and live large.

Don’t accept that aging is dying a slow death, fight back by taking that small step towards good health. Choose to exercise, choose to make positive dietary changes and choose life. Take a small step today towards that healthy lifestyle and you will make a giant leap towards a long and healthy life maybe with a banana in each hand.
