A lot of people are participating in the 30 minute challenge during February. The idea is to do some type of 30 minute workout everyday and then post a picture of the metrics from your smart watch to your group of fellow challenge participants. The group then can support each other and reinforce the idea of “we are all in this together”. I have followed along and watched this challenge work, as participants go out of their way to get their workout in so as not to let the others down. I’ve seen group members post late night workouts after working a double shift. Others have continued to complete their workouts while balancing long work weeks and family obligations. Many of the workouts are high intense very challenging efforts while others may only be a walk. Regardless the 30 minute workouts are getting done and everyone is being accountable to the group. The 30 minute challenge is clearly working. What is even better is that 30 days is long enough to create new habits so the positive effects may last much longer. Some group members might be able to make this challenge a lifelong habit. While there will surely be good health benefits from consistently exercising for 30 days in a row, the possibility that this could be life changing exists. This type of program can be implemented any time it doesn’t have to be February. Get a group or a friend that is willing to be held accountable and will do the same for you and start your challenge. Give yourself a shot at developing a life changing habit. Did you get your 30 minutes in today?
